We are now using a Groovin’ Saw

We have developed a revolutionary new saw – The Groovin’ Saw – that we are using to groove the partitions
 and backs of our houses. This saw allows us to groove one side of each partition/back providing an easy
surface for the bats to cling to and climb on.  This new Groovin’ technique has been approved by BCI and is
used on all houses we are now manufacturing.

About Us

Our company name, Chiroptera Cabin Company, comes from the word Chiroptera (pronounced Ki räp' ter a),
which is the scientific name for the Order of Mammals in the Animal Kingdom that contain all the BATS of the
world, and the word Cabin, which is a small, roughly constructed house. The name Chiroptera Cabin Company
translates to Bat House Company! We make Chiroptera Cabins!

We take pride in the fact that every Chiroptera Cabin model has received "Bat Approved" certification from

Each of our bat houses is carefully constructed by people who care about bats.  Our materials and our construction
are top quality.
Corrosion resistant screws (no nails) are used in the construction of each house.
Corrosion resistant staples hold the mesh in place.
The mesh is carefully trimmed to eliminate any sharp edges that might injure the bat's delicate wings.
Every joint between the front, sides, back, and roof is caulked to prevent leaks or drafts.
On all our models made with cedar siding on the front each overlap of two pieces is caulked to insure no
drafts or leaks.
Our colored houses are coated with two coats of top quality exterior latex stain.
