Heirloom Furniture Made by Hand in the Heart of Vermont
The finest home furniture is marked by shared distinctions. Timeless elegance, flawless function, and enduring craftsmanship are the things that it expresses, and in those furnishings that we cherish most we find true reflections of ourselves.
This is the furniture created at Knox Mountain Woodworking. Made by deliberate and skillful hands using carefully selected hardwoods and traditional techniques, each piece is an individual work of artistry that will stand the test of time for generations.
Owner and builder Sue McLam handcrafts every piece in her workshop from select Native American hardwoods. The result is heirloom furniture like no other you’ll ever own. Handmade in Vermont. Built to last. Designed for life.
The Knox Mountain Difference: Personal Attention and Traditional Techniques
Each piece of Knox Mountain furniture is the result of a unique collaboration between builder and buyer. Every step of the way from initial consultation to final delivery, you will enjoy the kind of personal connection to both your piece and it’s maker that is known as the Vermont way.
Sue McLam will work with you to find the ideal design, personally keep you apprised of her progress as she works, and be there to answer questions and encourage your contributions. This journey begins with the wood itself. Whether you desire a classic hardwood, or a special wood of your own choosing, Sue hand selects every board to ensure matching color and grain patterns. From cabinet backs to dresser drawers, you’ll find your chosen woods inside and out.
Traditional joinery techniques like dovetails and mortise and tenon will be employed during construction. Drawers will glide effortlessly on wooden slides.
Finally, your piece will be hand-sanded and hand-rubbed throughout with three coats of finish (more on hard-wearing tabletops) to achieve a glowing satin sheen and surfaces whose rich smoothness asks to be touched. |
